Mesh Wireless Sensor Network: Vision and Challenges

PROJECT TITLE :

Wireless Sensor Network as a Mesh: Vision and Challenges

ABSTRACT:

These days, technology related to networks is advancing at a breakneck pace. Manufacturers are being forced to produce more powerful and "smart" devices that make use of new methods for transferring and sorting data as a result of the increasing volume of information that is transmitted (including video, data, VoIP, and so on), the physical growth of networks, and the traffic that occurs between networks. In intelligently controlled traffic for self-driving vehicles in Vehicle Adhoc Networks (VANET), in electricity and water in smart cities, and in in-home automation in smart homes, such connected smart devices are referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT). The various types of connected Internet of Things (IoT) devices are utilized in order to take advantage of the various network architectures. These Internet of Things sensor devices have the capability of being organized into a wireless sensor network (WSN) using a mesh topology. WSNs and Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are simple to set up and deploy in addition to being easy to organize. In this particular scenario, there are numerous advantages to be gained from integrating the various kinds of networks. In particular, the detailed sensory capabilities of sensor networks may be improved through an increase in the mesh topology's bandwidth, reliability, and power consumption. However, as of right now, there are only a few studies that focus on integrating these two distinct kinds of networks. In addition, there has been no effort made to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the various existing interconnection methods. Because of this, the purpose of this article is to investigate the processes that are currently utilized by these two networks and to present a rationale for the connection between them. The terms wireless sensor network (WSN) and wireless mesh network (WMN) are first defined, and then we examine some real-world examples. After that, we present several challenges and opportunities in the field of combined Wireless Mesh Sensor Network (WMSN), followed by a discussion on this interconnection through literature review. It is our hope that this document will garner the attention of the community and inspire further research in this particular area of inquiry.
