A Bidirectional Three-level Model Predictive Current Controlled DCDC Converter for Hybrid Energy Storage Systems in DC Microgrids

PROJECT TITLE :

A Model Predictive Current Controlled Bidirectional Three-level DCDC Converter for Hybrid Energy Storage System in DC Microgrids

ABSTRACT:

For a hybrid energy storage system (HESS), this letter suggests a three-level dc/dc converter architecture. Using a single converter with bidirectional power flow, it successfully integrates various energy storage devices (ESDs), such as batteries and ultracapacitors (UC). With three voltage levels available, a suggested converter provides the capacity to regulate distinct ESDs independently, while reducing inductor current ripple dramatically. The voltage ratings of the power semiconductors utilised in this converter are likewise decreased. Using a continuous switching frequency-based model predictive current control for HESS regulation, HESS performance can be further improved. We'll talk about the converter's principles of construction and operation. The effectiveness of the proposed converter and control is demonstrated through the presentation of experimental data.
