PROJECT TITLE :

A 330-$mumbox$ 400-MHz BPSK Transmitter in 0.18- $mumbox$ CMOS for Biomedical Applications

ABSTRACT:

An energy-efficient 400-MHz binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) transmitter (TX) is proposed for biomedical applications in this brief. The BPSK signal is generated by edge-combining multiple phases from a coffee-frequency voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), which avoids power-hungry native oscillator generation at RF. Furthermore, the output matching network and edge combiner are merged into a power amplifier (PA), resulting in a hardware-efficient and low-power style. Fabricated in a zero.18- $mumboxm$ CMOS process, the proposed TX consumes 330 $mumboxW$ and delivers −15-dBm output power. The modulator operates at 0.8 V, and PA operates at zero.two-V offer voltage. The TX can support a knowledge rate up to twenty Mb/s, achieving an energy potency of 14.nine pJ/bit. The measured error vector magnitude at twenty Mb/s is 10%.
