Microwave Time-Domain Radar: Healthy Tissue Variations Over the Menstrual Cycle

ABSTRACT:

During this study, we have a tendency to follow a healthy patient volunteer with daily breast scans using our time-domain microwave radar monitoring system. Over the course of a twenty eight-day amount, which corresponds to the time-frame of the menstrual cycle, we tend to perform a complete of 54 scans per breast. Our breast monitoring system uses a time-domain, multistatic radar approach with 16 wideband sensors. We tend to first directly compare the recorded signals for every scan, then examine reconstructed pictures for each breast, and compare how they vary day-to-day. Pictures are compared using the structural similarity index, and based mostly on their pixel intensities. We more estimate the daily average tissue permittivity for every breast. The results demonstrate that our system is ready to detect variations in the breast tissues over the monthly amount; but, we have a tendency to estimate that the standard of those changes differs from those that would appear because of a malignant growth. The tissue changes seen during this trial are unlikely to affect the outcome of long-term monitoring for the aim of abnormality detection; however, measurements on a bigger population are required before wider conclusions will be made.
