PROJECT TITLE :

Design and implementation of a novel three-phase cascaded half-bridge inverter - 2016

ABSTRACT:

In this study, a replacement circuit topology of a three-phase [*fr1]-bridge multilevel inverter (MLI) is proposed. The proposed MLI that consists of a cascaded [*fr1]-bridge structure together with a changed full-bridge structure requires less range of dc-power supplies and power semiconductor devices, e.g. insulated gate bipolar transistors and diodes when compared with the prevailing MLI topologies, that significantly reduces the scale and price of the inverter. Two totally different structures: isolated and non-isolated dc-power provide-based mostly three-part half-bridge MLIs are investigated. A range of generalised strategies are proposed to see the magnitude of the input dc-power supplies that features a great impact on the amount of levels of the output voltage waveform. To verify the feasibility of the proposed MLI topology, a scaled down laboratory prototype 3-section 0.5-bridge MLI is developed and the experimental results are analysed and compared with the simulation results. Experimental and simulation results reveal the feasibility and excellent options of the proposed inverter system.
