Energy-Efficient Transmission of Hybrid Array With Non-Ideal Power Amplifiers and Circuitry - 2018

PROJECT TITLE :

Energy-Efficient Transmission of Hybrid Array With Non-Ideal Power Amplifiers and Circuitry - 2018

ABSTRACT:

This Project presents a brand new approach to efficiently maximizing the energy potency (EE) of hybrid arrays beneath a practical setting of non-ideal power amplifiers (PAs) and non-negligible circuit power, where coherent and non-coherent beamforming are thought-about. As a key contribution, we reveal that a bursty transmission mode can be energy-economical to attain steady transmissions of a data stream beneath the sensible setting. This is distinctively different from existing studies beneath ideal circuits and PAs, where continuous transmissions are the most energy-efficient. Another important contribution is that the optimal transmit period and powers are identified to balance energy consumptions within the non-ideal circuits and PAs, and maximize the EE. This is achieved by establishing the foremost energy-efficient structure of transmit powers, given a transmit period, and correspondingly partitioning the non-convex possible region of the transmit length into segments with self-contained convexity or concavity. Evident from simulations, important EE gains of the proposed approach are demonstrated through comparisons with the cutting-edge, and the prevalence of the bursty transmission mode is confirmed particularly beneath low data rate demands.
