User-Centric Network MIMO With Dynamic Clustering - 2017

ABSTRACT:

Recent advances have demonstrated the potential of network MIMO (netMIMO), that combines a sensible variety of distributed antennas as a virtual netMIMO AP (nAP) to enhance spatial multiplexing of an WLAN. Existing solutions, however, either merely cluster nearby antennas as static nAPs, or dynamically cluster antennas on a per-packet basis so as to maximise the total rate of the scheduled purchasers. To strike the balance between the on top of 2 extremes, in this paper, we have a tendency to gift the design, implementation and analysis of FlexNEMO, a sensible 2-section netMIMO clustering system. Unlike previous per-packet clustering approaches, FlexNEMO only clusters antennas when consumer distribution and traffic pattern change, thence being more sensible to be implemented. A medium access control protocol customized for uplink transmissions is then designed to allow the purchasers at the center of nAPs to possess a higher probability to gain uplink access opportunities, but still ensure long-term fairness among shoppers. By combining on-demand clustering and priority-primarily based access management, FlexNEMO not solely improves antenna utilization, but conjointly optimizes the channel condition for every individual shopper. We have a tendency to evaluated our style via each test bed experiments on USRPs and trace-driven emulations. The results demonstrate that FlexNEMO will deliver 94.sevenpercent and 93.sevenp.c throughput gains over static antenna clustering during a 4-antenna check bed and 16-antenna emulation, respectively.
