EABS: An Event-Aware Backpressure Scheduling Scheme for Emergency Internet of Things - 2018

ABSTRACT:

The backpressure scheduling theme has been applied in Internet of Things, that can control the network congestion effectively and increase the network throughput. However, in giant-scale Emergency Internet of Things (EIoT), emergency packets may exist as a result of of the urgent events or situations. The ancient backpressure scheduling theme can explore all the potential routes between the source and destination nodes that cause a superfluous long path for packets. Therefore, the tip-to-finish delay increases and the important-time performance of emergency packets can't be guaranteed. To address this shortcoming, this Project proposes EABS, an event-aware backpressure scheduling theme for EIoT. A backpressure queue model with emergency packets is 1st devised based mostly on the analysis of the arrival process of various packets. Meanwhile, EABS combines the shortest path with backpressure theme in the method of next-hop node choosing. The emergency packets are forwarded within the shortest path and avoid the network congestion in keeping with the queue backlog distinction. The extensive experiment results verify that EABS will cut back the average finish-to-end delay and increase the typical forwarding percentage. For the emergency packets, the real-time performance is guaranteed. Moreover, we compare EABS with two existing backpressure scheduling schemes, showing that EABS outperforms both of them.
