Optimization Strategy for PID-Controller Design of AMB Rotor Systems

ABSTRACT:

Most industrial active magnetic bearings (AMBs) are controlled by proportional–integral–spinoff (PID) controllers. Typically, a time-consuming iterative manual tuning procedure is required to style these PID controllers. In this contribution, we have a tendency to introduce the strategy, algorithms, and results from an AMB controller style, including optimization using a multiobjective genetic algorithm. We have a tendency to specialise in the combination of frequency- and time-domain-based optimization, a method for the analysis of fitness functions for complex PID-controller style, and a sensitivity-primarily based parameter reduction for optimization. Two AMB system controller designs are thought of and satisfactory results are obtained using the steered optimization strategy. For validation functions, the optimized controller style is experimentally implemented for the first AMB system, that contains a versatile take a look at rotor supported by two AMBs. The maximal rotational speed of fifteen 00zero r/min is achieved for the take a look at rotor. A comparison between simulated and experimental results is presented.
