Ammonium Hydroxide Sensing Based on LSPR of Phosphatidylcholine-Modified Gold Nanorods

PROJECT TITLE :

Ammonium Hydroxide Sensing Based on LSPR of Phosphatidylcholine-Modified Gold Nanorods

ABSTRACT:

Gold nanorods (GNRs) were fabricated through a seed-mediated growth procedure and a surface modified by phosphatidylcholine (LAPTOP) for ammonium hydroxide sensing. Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide, the protecting agent of GNRs, was replaced by LAPTOP in chloroform solution to endow GNRs with ammonium hydroxide sensitivity. The replacement was proved by ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, zeta potential measurement, Fourier remodel infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy. Thanks to the COMPUTER replacement, a 9.2-nm blue shift in the longitudinal plasma absorption band (LPAB) of the UV-vis spectrum and a sixteen.eight-mV decrease within the zeta potential value of the merchandise were measured. The characteristic FTIR signals of PC occur within the spectrum of COMPUTER-changed GNRs. Response to ammonium hydroxide was characterised by UV-vis spectroscopy. A linear relationship between the LPAB intensity and ammonium hydroxide amount was revealed, and a sensitivity of eleven.46 a.u. per one% ammonium hydroxide (g/ml, the burden of NH3 versus the amount of answer below take a look at) was obtained. The response time was a hundred and eighty ± thirty s for the ammonia content up to zero.065%. The minimum detection limitation is zero.004%, far below a capacitance-type ammonium hydroxide detector widely employed in trade (0.onepercent). The results demonstrate the potential application prospect of LAPTOP-modified GNRs as an ammonium hydroxide sensor.
